I use vista ultimate
the same thing
i changed proxy from localhost to 127.0.0.1 - gtor started running Smile)
plus utorrent don`t have any problems anymore (utorrent 1.8.x)

Easy fix
Go to uTorrent's Options - Preferences - Connection
Proxy: 127.0.0.1
-not localhost



thanks man it really seems to work
